Build and Race Electric Vehicles

EV Kartz is a student competition team sponsored by 911������'s Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. Team members transform a stock sprint kart chassis into a fully electric racing kart while gaining hands-on experience in electric vehicle (EV) design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, and performance.

Each spring, the team competes in the evGrandPrix at Purdue University, racing wheel-to-wheel against universities from across the United States. Throughout the year, students apply classroom knowledge to real-world engineering challenges by working with electric motors, battery systems, power electronics, controls, and custom vehicle components. Members also have opportunities to design, build, and test their own solutions while developing valuable teamwork, project management, and problem-solving skills.

At the conclusion of the season, team members put their work to the test by driving the completed kart at 911������'s GM Mobility Research Center, showcasing the innovation and experiential learning that define a Kettering engineering education.
